SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP (SIG)

2024 Kenya Service Trip - Jen DeJong
The dates are not set but will be 2 weeks in June or July 2024. Estimated all-inclusive cost (including airfare, lodging, food, activities, safari) is around $4,000. For more information, contact Jen DeJong ([email protected]). Priority will be given to IWIL members to join the trip and then we will open it to the community if spots are still available.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) SIG - Haley Wilson & Stormy Udell
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Special Interest Group (DEI SIG) of Illinois Women in Leadership recommends strategies to the Board to assure integration of diversity, equity, justice and inclusion among the IWIL Board, committees, membership and the Springfield community at large to be a representation of the community and a leader in recognizing and uplifting women of diverse backgrounds.

COMMITTEES

ATHENA Committee - Heather Burton

Committee reviews ATHENA nomination forms and plans the ATHENA Leadership Award Ceremony. Meetings are held on a monthly basis. 

Communications Committee - Angie Muhs

​Committee members gather information for, create and manage the monthly newsletter. Committee is the liaison from the leadership to the membership and from the membership to the community at large. Involves covering all IWIL events to appropriately share with media outlets and social media platforms.

Community Health Giving Circle (CHCG) - Donna Jean Gibney and Cara Tabatabai

Committee oversees all action of the Community Health Giving Circle and its members. In addition to monitoring membership and organizing membership activities and meetings, this committee, or a subcommittee, is responsible for the CHGC Health Grants.

This involves researching potential Health Focus Areas (April/May) and awarding Health Grants from the IWIL CHGC Fund utilizing CFLL’s Community Grants Program (July/August).

Hospitality Committee - Jean Winn and Amy Peterson

​Committee plans and hosts the Scholarship Fundraiser and Annual Meeting. Meetings are held year-round as needed.  

Membership Committee Debbie Thompson

​Committee reviews new member applications and sends recommendations to the chair to take to the board for a vote. Committee chair maintains membership roster and coordinates annual membership renewals. Committee members help orient new members to the organization to ensure the most positive experience. They do this through new member lunches approximately two to three times each year and outreach to new members as they join.

Programs CommitteeDenysha Crawford

​Committee selects and schedules speakers and program topics for each of the seven monthly luncheon meetings that support the annual IWIL theme. This committee typically works from April-July.

Registration CommitteeJen Bettis

​Committee handles monthly meeting registration and payments including organizing member and guest name-tags. Committee also works the registration table at meetings to ensure all attendees are properly checked-in. 

Scholarship CommitteeAngie Acakpo-Satchivi

Committee reviews and evaluates all scholarship applications, which are received each spring. Time commitment is intensive during one month, typically in March or April each year. 

Sponsorships CommitteeDonna Reeves and Pam Frazier

Committee ensures the ATHENA Leadership Award, Women's Symposium and Scholarship Fundraiser are all supported with sponsorships. Works closely with community and business partners to make sure their financial support is directed to the appropriate event.  ​

Symposium Committee - Melisa Galloway and Kate Dyer

​Committee plans and hosts the day-long conference in September each year and is made up of various subcommittees including: programs, logistics, marketing/PR, exhibitors, audio/visual, registration, and more.
